    Description

Steve Bissette and John Totleben Swamp Thing #46 Page 24 Original Art (DC, 1986). John Constantine aka Hellblazer, star of a movie and now a TV series, makes an early appearance here (his eighth, we believe). Here he's still a dead ringer for the musician Sting, a resemblance that was toned down over the years. As for the goings-on in this Alan Moore storyline, when the Crisis on Infinite Earths is not even the main threat at hand, you know Swamp Thing is going to have his hands full! Signed by Totleben at bottom. This piece has an image area of 11" x 15". All of the word balloons are (original production) stats. The board is trimmed on all sides, coming close to the image area in some spots. There's paper loss at the upper left, perhaps from a tape pull. Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
