Sheldon Mayer - Scribbly #1, page 2 Original Art (DC, 1948). The great Sheldon Mayer remains one of the most talented cartoonists/creators ever to work in the comic book field. His unique and memorable creations include Sugar and Spike, The Three Mouseketeers, Doodles Duck and even the superheroes of The Justice Society of America and The Black Orchid. As a comic artist, Mayer created many great comics and gags, one of which was Scribbly, a semi-autobiographical strip about a boy cartoonist, which ran intermittently through the late 1930s and '40s. In 1948, when the superhero fad had run its course and Archie-style teenage humor was an up-and-coming genre, Scribbly returned as the star of his own comic and ran 15 issues, from 1948 through 1952. This heaping helping of Mayer madness has an image area of 13" x 18" and is in Excellent condition.
