DescriptionRobert Crumb Weirdo #7 "Uncle Bob's Mid-Life Crisis" Page 1 Original Art (Last Gasp, 1983). Robert can't drag himself out of bed after seeing a copy of The R. Crumb Checklist -- and now he's too self-conscious to draw anymore! Say it ain't so, Uncle Bob! Crumb's very best comic character is once again himself in this landmark "slice o' life" story, drawn in larger size for his magazine, Weirdo, in 1982, a story that Fantagraphics featured in one volume of their Best Comics of the 1980s books. Like his good friend and collaborator, Harvey Pekar, Crumb takes mundane events from his everyday life and turns them into a compelling graphic narrative. This first page of the eight-page story is drawn in Crumb's "fine-line" style, using a fine-point Rapidograph mechanical pen, on bristol board. It has an image area of approximately 11.5" x 15.75", and other than two small pieces of archival tape in the upper corners of the backside and some very light paper tanning from an old framing, it is in Excellent condition.
