Robert Crumb Kafka For Beginners (R. Crumb's Kafka) Page 138 Original Art (Totem Books, 1993). Half-literary analysis and half-biography, Kafka For Beginners explores the social effects of the famed writer's Jewishness as a Czech-born and German-speaking Jew growing up in a bumpy time in the Hapsburg empire at the end of the 19th century. Indeed, Franz Kafka's sense of social identity was a precarious balancing act. This awesome portrait of Kafka's feverish desire for The Promised Land, drawn in ink and graphite on blue-lined Bristol board with pasted-on phototype captions, has an approximate image area of 6" x 9.5", and an overall size of 9" x 12.5". This beautifully crosshatched scene is in Excellent condition.
