Ogden Whitney Herbie #9 Story Page 1 Original Art (ACG, 1965). Easily one of the most odd-ball of the odd-ball comics, Herbie stories were as entertaining as they were wacky with their own off-beat charm and style. Ogden Whitney's wonderful artwork could take the wildest of stories and make it seem perfectly sensible... in Herbie Popnecker's world, at least. His battle cry of "You want I should bop you with this here lollipop?" is unforgettable in its strangeness. Created by writer Richard Hughes (as Shane O'Shea) and Ogden Whitney, they also produced this story "Only Robin Hood Can Help you, Herbie!" in which the "little fat nothing" is a stand-in for Friar Tuck to get Robin Hood's bow. The page was crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 18". With only slight patina and handling wear, this title page, with its half-splash page panel, is in otherwise, Excellent condition. So "Make Way for the Fat Fury" in your collection and bid on this crazy page!
