Neal Adams - Dracula Lives #2 Preliminary Layout Original Art (Marvel, 1972). Neal Adams developed a method of mapping out his comic book pages using very tight and detailed "thumbnail sketches." The amount of detail Neal drew into this layout for a double-page Dracula Lives spread is breathtaking. The image area measures 8.5" x 5.5", and the art paper has since been mounted to a matte board backing. Three of the corners of the drawing have tears; otherwise the art is in Excellent condition. This piece offers a revealing insight into Neal's illustrative process. From the collection of Richard and Wendy Pini. Richard says: "The first comic book convention I went to was in 1974; it was one of the legendary Phil Seuling Fourth of July shows. The dealer's room was awash in treasures! One piece I found was this thumbnail page from a Neal Adams 'Dracula Lives' story. We were already in awe of Adams' skills as an illustrator from his earlier work at DC Comics, but to see how much detail and care he put into what as, essentially, a throwaway sketch was amazing to us."
