Description

Neal Adams and Bernie Wrightson Green Lantern #84 "Peril in Plastic" Black Hand Page 15 Original Art (DC, 1971). Weakened by gas emitted by the plastic pins produced in Piper's Dell, Green Lantern finds his will sapped and so as an emergency measure he sends his ring to Green Arrow. When he revives, GL finds that his old enemy Black Hand has been using the mesmerizing pins to keep the community under his mental control. Neal Adams is considered by many to be the artist who, along with writer Denny O'Neil, began the Bronze Age of comics. The realistic approach to the art and emotive quality of the figures were perfect for O'Neil's social commentary that has made their run on the Green Lantern/Green Arrow series one of the most respected in comic history. Add to that Bernie Wrightson's evocative inking which creates a horrific atmosphere around the banal, greatly adding to the psychological angst of the characters. These scenes also repeat the sly "Ka-loooota" sound effect sequence (a whimsical in-joke about fellow seventies artist, Michael W. Kaluta). This superb page has an image area of 10" x 15", and aside from light overall paper aging, and closely trimmed margins, it's in Excellent condition.
