DescriptionMort Leav Fight Comics #19 Story Page 2 Kayo Kirby Original Art (Fiction House, 1942). From the earlier years of Fiction House -- so early in the game that studio boss Jerry Iger is still using the Eisner & Iger trademark (upper right), well after co-founder Will Eisner had gone solo. Leav was one of many new-to-the-game comic-book artists who made up the visual grammar of the idiom as they went along. Here, he experiments with extreme angles and tense body language in pitting prizefighter Kayo Kirby against an opponent with "a lightning right." Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.25" x 18". Light-to-moderate toning, with painted white art corrections, and blue pencil color call-outs. In Excellent condition.
