    Description

Michael H. Price and Lamberto Alvarez Heavy Metal V15#6 Story Page 4 Original Art (Heavy Metal Publ., 1992). Price's breakdowns inspire a dynamic job of Cubism-styled finished art from Alvarez, years before his emergence as a sculptor and acid-etching designer. The sequence from "Payne's Inferno" depicts the grisly aftermath of Texas' most notorious murder case of the 20th century -- a car bombing perpetrated in 1930 by a leading citizen of Amarillo. Ink and Zipatone shading film over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". The hand-lettered text/dialogue sections are pasted in place. Some shading film has peeled away, notably in the fourth panel. The lightly toned page is in Very Good condition. From the Michael H. Price/Cremo Studios Collection.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
