    Description

John Severin Mad #9 "Bop Jokes" page 2 Original Art (EC, 1954). A crazy page from Mad, this is the first in a series of "Bop Jokes" rendered in the beat patois that was prevalent among the counter-cultural cognoscenti during the "Hep" era of the late-'50s and early-'60s. Coolly drawn by the great John Severin, this page has an image area of 13" x 18", and it's been matted to an overall size of 18.5" x 24.5". It should be noted that several of the planes in the first panel are stats, as are the two main figures in the bottom middle panel. All the rest is original, with some minor use of white-out; otherwise, the art is in Excellent condition. A cool page from a crazy era.
