Description
John Byrne and Terry Austin X-Men #111 Two-Page Spread 2-3 Original Art (Marvel, 1978). This double-page spread is as stunning as it was shocking to see in the pages of what was only John Byrne's fifth time drawing the All-New, All-Different X-Men (and that is counting their appearance in Iron Fist #15). Check out that image of Phoenix... looks like a foreshadowing of Dark Phoenix to us. Inker Terry Austin is well-known for hiding interesting characters in the backgrounds and this spread is no exception. See if you can find a caricature of Howard the Duck inker, Steve Leialoha! Also present is the Beast (Hank McCoy in a trench coat), Storm, Nightcrawler, Banshee, Wolverine, and Colossus. Produced in ink over graphite on two pieces of conjoined Bristol board with a combined image area of 21" x 15".
