Description

Joe Shuster Studio Action Comics #43 Story Page 2 Original Art (DC, 1941). The earliest published Superman comic book page that Heritage has ever offered. In fact, the earliest pages we had previously offered were from 1954! Lois Lane gets the lead from Perry White as Clark Kent stews... there is a great image of a quick-change to Superman, and then of the Man of Steel flying in the last panel. The Grand Comics Database identifies Leo Nowak on pencils and Ed Dobrotka on inks for this issue, while the DC Archive Edition of the issue credits the art to Nowak. It is produced in ink over graphite at twice-up scale on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 18". With only slight handling wear and a minor stain on the right side, this high-flying page is in Super condition... uh, we mean Excellent condition. From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.
