    Description

Jim Starlin and Mike Esposito Iron Man #55 Page 12 Original Art (Marvel, 1973). This page features the origin and creation of Drax the Destroyer! There is no other Marvel Bronze Age creator more closely associated with epic space opera stories than Jim Starlin. He had a hand in creating or refining almost every classic space character from Marvel during that period: Adam Warlock, Captain Mar-Vell, Thanos, and Star-Lord. On this page, the human spirit that Kronos used to create Drax belonged to Arthur Douglas, who was the father of Heather Douglas (Moondragon). Drax (and Star-Lord) were featured in the recent Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The page is tanned, with top and bottom edge production tape. There is a small slit in the bottom edge, but page is complete. Some discoloration in places, however overall in Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
