    Description

Jill Thompson and Vince Locke Sandman V2#41 Page 17 Delirium and Desire Original Art (DC/Vertigo, 1992). Sweet Delirium may well be the third most popular of the Endless and she is featured all over this page with her sister Desire. There is also a nice image of their sister Despair's fishhook-ring sigil. The things Neil Gaiman brought into the story as he built up the world and mythos of the Endless, such as the Galleries and how they can use them to communicate with each other, enthralled readers. Artwork by the talented Jill Thompson (Scary Godmother, Beasts of Burden) and Vince Locke (Deadworld, Books of Faerie: Auberon's Tale) just make this page that much more special. This page from "Brief Lives: Part 1" is signed by both artists in the bottom margin. The page is ink over graphite on DC Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 15". In Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
