    Description

Jesse Marsh Gene Autry Comics #32 Group of 2 Story Pages (c. 1940s). Only with the approval of Gene Autry, could an artist land an assignment to draw Gene Autry Comics. The box-office champ had final say-so on all his licensed spinoffs, from funnybooks to lunch-boxes. Autry picked a winner in Marsh, whose spare, virile style not only captures Autry, but also conveys the dangerous vastness of the setting. The title page, though numbered as issue #32, does not match with the contents of that number of Dell Comics' Autry title -- a pedigree mystery. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 16" x 23". Light-to-moderate toning. Barring a torn area in the opening panel (upper right), Very Good condition.
