Jack Kirby, Mort Meskin and Steve Ditko Captain 3-D #1 Pages 18, 24, 27, and 31 Original Art Group of 4 (Harvey, 1953). Here are 4 extraordinary pages from comics history, amidst the 3-D boom of the 1950's! The production techniques are similar to animation art. Kirby penciled the page layout on Duotone board. Then inker Mort Meskin (with assists from Steve Ditko) painted the black line art on the top of acetate sheets. There is a separate sheet for each visual layer of "depth" that is keyed to the red and blue lenses of the glasses. Because of these layers, even viewing the original artwork without 3-D glasses gives a feeling of depth to the static page. The overall image area of the pages is 12" x 18". The paper frames and text pieces are toned with some handling wear in the acetate sheets and paste up. Strong eye appeal. Overall in Excellent condition.
