    Description

Jack Kirby and Joe Simon Boys' Ranch #1 "The Man Who Hated Boys" Page 11 Original Art (Harvey, 1950). Dandy and Wabash find themselves in a very tight spot, in this exciting page from the origin story featured in the first issue of Simon and Kirby's Boys' Ranch. Kid gangs were always a specialty of the team during the 1940s, having created several for Timely, DC, and Harvey. This gang of kids had the added appeal of being set in the old West, during the era when Western movies like Winchester 73 were hot, a trend the new medium of television would soon also pick up on. This action-paced page is drawn in ink, graphite, and blue pencil on illustration board, with an image area of 13" x 18", and is in Very Good condition. The "West. Tales #31" notation at the bottom of the page indicated this story was slated for reprinting in Harvey's 1955 title, Western Tales; however, another Boys' Ranch tale was chosen instead. From the Joe Simon Estate.
