Jack Kirby and George Roussos (as George Bell) Fantastic Four #27 Story Page 9 Doctor Strange Original Art (Marvel, 1964). The Master of the Mystic Arts drops in on the Baxter Building looking for the Human Torch, but bashful Benjy (the Thing) is not impressed. This issue marked Kirby's first time to draw Doctor Strange, and he captured Steve Ditko's ethereal quality for the Sorcerer Supreme quite well, while maintaining that dynamic Kirby line. Kirby only drew Doctor Strange in a handful of covers and as a guest-star about three times. In fact, this was the good Doctor's first crossover appearance in the early formative days of the Marvel Universe. He would become one of Marvel's go-to characters for all things mystic and magical, crossing into many different titles over the years. It was this web of cross-appearances that helped Marvel develop the rich tapestry that was the backdrop to their titles. With Doctor Strange's movie just released, now is a good time to pick up all of Stephen Strange's early appearances! This page is crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". With only light toning, this is in Excellent condition. But where can we get a lamp shade like that one in panel four?
