    Description

Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers Strange Tales #101 Story Page 9 Human Torch Original Art (Marvel, 1962). This page marked the first appearance of the Thing outside the Fantastic Four title, and of course this landmark story was the first solo story for Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. On the page before, Johnny preserved his secret identity by creating a fake Human Torch out of flame, but we see him now turn his attention to the issue's villain, the Destroyer. The Thing isn't seen again after this page (except for one panel of him walking away). Kirby and Ayers' visuals underline the fact that the Torch was just a kid here, wanting to gain respect, not unlike his young readers no doubt. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.75". Page is slightly toned. Some staining. Corner and edge wear. Very Good condition.
