    Description

Jack Kirby and Chic Stone X-Men #9 Page 13 Original Art (Marvel, 1965). The Avengers meet the X-Men for the first time! And it's topped off with a fantastic two-thirds-page battle panel. This is a "twice-up" page, 12.5" x 18.5", and the main panel alone is an eye-opening 12.5" x 12.5". Note how Kirby not only fits in all of these characters, he has almost every one demonstrate his or her powers, with Stan Lee adding pithy explanations -- even new readers could easily follow along (if only today's comics were that way!). Also note how well it comes across that the Avengers are grown-ups while the X-Men are teens. The roll call here: Beast, Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Giant-Man, the Wasp, Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man. If we assume that Henry and Janet Pym will figure into the Ant-Man movie somehow, by summer's end all ten of these characters will have appeared on movie screens, adding even more interest to an already very desirable piece. The ink over graphite on Bristol page had been matted and framed. Excellent condition.
