DescriptionJack Kirby and Bill Everett Tales to Astonish #79 Story Page 4 Hercules Original Art (Marvel, 1966). Two Titans meet in this story... and we are not talking about the Hulk and Hercules! We are talking about the blockbuster layouts of Jack Kirby and the fine-lined finished art of Bill Everett! Two of the greatest artists of Timely's Golden Age, working together a full 25 years later! Jack Kirby co-created Captain America in 1940, and Bill Everett created Namor the Sub-Mariner in 1939. This stunning page was created at twice-up scale on Bristol board with an image area of 12.75" x 18.75". Figures of Herc (and his manager) were re-drawn by Everett on paper paste-up overlays, as he didn't seem to know Marvel had an established look for Hercules already. The Herc images in Panels #1 and 2 are held on with a bit of tape and can be flipped up to show the original art below. The page is in Very Good condition.
