    Description

Gene Colan Tales of Suspense #39 "The Last Rocket" Title Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1963). As every Marvel fan knows, this landmark issue featured the very first Iron Man yarn, drawn by Don Heck, but what's cool is that future Shellhead artist Gene Colan also contributed to the same issue -- with this back-up sci-fi story. Here is a real treat from the Silver Age-the title page for "The Last Rocket." When the sun starts dying, humanity goes into space, except for two nature lovers. Just as the last rocket leaves a new sun flares to life, and the two remaining humans, Adam and Eve, rename the planet Earth. No one knows how to apply realistic drama to a comic page like Gene Colan, and no inker can keep the energy of his line intact like "the Dean" himself; you'll see what we mean when you see this page. This Marvel milestone has an image area of 12.5" x 18.5", and it's in Very Good condition.
