Description

Gene Colan and Dave Simons Howard the Duck #5 Story Page 17 Original Art (Marvel Comics, 1979). Howard the Duck, the caustic satirical character, survived creator Steve Gerber's departure from the Marvel machine, largely because Colan remained attached -- the Duck's most consistent and sympathetic illustrator. This fine page (from the book's revival as a black-and-white mature-readers title) catches Howard in an altercation with a gun nut called Captain Americana. On the reverse is a bonus drawing: Colan's spontaneous ink-sketch of a Jamaican Rasta Man. Ink and ink wash over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10.5" x 15". Extensive marginal notations and handling wear. Very Good condition.
