Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #3 Page 36 Original Art (DC, 1986). Universally hailed as a comics masterpiece, The Dark Knight Returns was Frank Miller's re-invention of the legend of Batman. When highly sought-after pages from this yarn surface, they command a premium price. The story remains an undisputed classic -- one of the most influential stories ever told in comics, cited by the filmmakers as an inspiration for the modern era's Batman movies.
Issue #3 was subtitled "Hunt the Dark Knight," and Frank Miller's use of the broadcast media and a propaganda battle as key elements in the Dark Knight saga was a stroke of genius. Meanwhile, the Joker's men continue his merciless reign of homicide with free poisoned cotton candy -- the Clown Prince of Crime must be brought to justice! Note the tip of the cowl to Italian comics master Hugo Pratt with the mention of "Corto Maltese" in panel one. Panel six features a dynamic close up of Batman and Robin (Carrie Kelly). This Modern Age masterwork has an image area of 12" x 18". There are tape residue stains in the margins (as is common with these pages): otherwise, the art is in Excellent condition.
