Description

Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Batman: The Dark Knight #3 Batman in Disguise page 2 Original Art (DC, 1986). Universally acknowledged as one of the most important story arcs in modern comics, no great comic book art collection could be considered complete without a masterwork from Frank Miller's renowned Batman epic. The layout and storytelling in this page confirm Frank Miller's place among the most stellar talents the field has offered, on a par with such giants as Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, Harvey Kurtzman, Neal Adams, and Jim Steranko.
Though officially page 2, this is actually the first story page of issue #3, "Hunt the Dark Knight", as the first page in the book has just the story title.
Here, the "old woman" in the shop is none other than Batman in disguise! Also, the crosscutting technique that Miller used to such great effect in the series is in evidence here as well, as the top four panels are from the perspective of, and narrated by, Superman.
Note that there are some differences between the original art and the published version, as Miller reportedly took issue with some of the inking and made some changes on pasteovers that aren't included with this lot. Differences include the face of the "old woman" in panel 5 and the face of the neo-Nazi in panel 7.
The image area is 12" x 18", and aside from some tape residue stains in the four borders (outside the image area), the art is in Excellent condition. Frank Miller signed the page at the lower right.
