DescriptionDon Rosa Uncle Scrooge #220 "Nobody's Business" Page 1 Original Art (Gladstone, 1987). The opening page to Don Rosa's first ten-pager for a Disney comic book, starring Uncle Scrooge with appearances by Donald Duck and Gladstone Gander. Of all the "good duck artists" to come along after Carl Barks, Mr. Rosa is easily the most celebrated, especially in Europe where he has a very devoted following. Don's first published story was the classic saga "The Son of the Sun," a 26-page extravaganza that appeared in the previous issue; this is from his second story. There are plenty of wonderful Disney Duck elements here -- Scrooge in his vast Money Bin, surrounded by coins, wads of cash, and bags of dough around every corner; carefree Donald, whistling a tune and flipping a coin (probably the only money he has) as he goes fishing; and perennially lucky layabout Gladstone, passing the time by reading a stack of comic books while a hot lunch is about to drop into his lap. Mr. Rosa's artwork is always crammed with great detail, and this page does not disappoint. It's in ink over graphite with whiteout on stiff board, with an image area of 10" x 15". All word balloons are pasted-on photostats that appear to be original production items. The board has tanned a bit, but otherwise, the page is in Excellent condition, hand-signed and inscribed in the bottom margin. From the Allan Holtz Collection.
