Dick Ayers and Carl Burgos Human Torch #36 Story Page 6 Original Art (Atlas/Marvel, 1954). The last page of the last story in the issue (pitting the Torch and Toro against "The Ape"), features the flaming duo in a high-temperature tale that was originally illustrated by Dick Ayers. As with the other Human Torch stories in this issue, Carl Burgos altered the images of the Torch and Toro in almost every panel. Panels 1 and 2 have original art inked images cut and pasted into place. In Panels 3, 4, and 6, they were corrected with white paint and re-inked over the top of that. As a hidden bonus, there is a small loose graphite drawing of the Torch on the backside of the board, possibly by Carl Burgos, if not, then by Dick Ayers. Created twice-up scale in ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 12" x 18". Panel 1 has some red pencil stains, and there are glue stains near the paste-up sections in both panels. The board has been creased on both sides, and has some minor marginal rips mended with tape... the corners also. It was signed by Dick Ayers on 4-17-94. Overall in Very Good condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.
