Dick Ayers and Carl Burgos Human Torch #36 Story Page 1 Original Art (Atlas/Marvel, 1954). Any Atlas art is a nice find, but to find a page from the very brief "superhero revival" period is really something special. A nice half-splash panel dominates the page, and it has a wonderful secret... The Toro figure was re-drawn by Carl Burgos. It's possible Burgos re-did the Betty Wilson head in the last panel as well. Some text is paste-up, and the Torch's word balloon is missing from the splash-panel. There are text corrections that are taped and glued in (one missing). Ayers' signature in the main panel is a paste-up; however, he did sign in the lower margin, where he dated it 4-17-94. A twice-up scale page in ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 12" x 18". The logo is a stat paste-up with some wrinkles and glue residue around it. The page is lightly toned and there is handling wear on the sides. In Good condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.
