DC Artist - Unpublished Green Lantern Story Page 1 Original Art (DC, c. 1945-49). Legendary DC Comics Editor Julie Schwartz started with the company in 1944 as a story plotter, working directly with DC writers. Near the end of the decade he was promoted from a story plotter to Editor. This is one of the few stories that he wrote (by himself) during those early days. The story, "Safety First", was ultimately never published and it is stamped "Written Off 9-30-49" in the lower margin. The page is signed "ID" in the lower left of the large splash panel. The page was eventually printed in The Amazing World of DC Comics #3 (1974), after Julie Schwartz had been with the company for thirty years at that point. This first page of the story was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 15". The toned board has a few small stains. In Very Good condition.
