Carmine Infantino and Bernard Sachs Flash Comics Partial Page 6 Original Art (DC, c. 1949). Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash, is seen holding his love interest, Joan Williams, on this last tier of panels from an unpublished page. As some of the Golden Age books from DC started to cease publication, there came a backlog of stories that went into their inventory. This partial page is stamped "Written Off" and dated 9-30-49. In the 1960s, some DC interns were tasked with cutting many of these stories up and putting them in the trash. These interns, which reportedly included Marv Wolfman and Len Wein, followed the letter of the instruction (but not the intent) as they carefully cut between tiers, put them in the trash, and then later returned to fish them back out of the trash. Some of these rescued stories eventually saw print when DC upped their page count in the 1970s; however, this one does not appear to have been so lucky. Rendered in ink over graphite on a section of Bristol board that measures 15" x 7.5". Lightly toned and in Very Good condition.
