Bob Wood Daredevil Comics #10 The Claw "Death to the Allies!" Page 4 Hand-Colored Original Art (Lev Gleason, 1942). Very little Lev Gleason art seems to exist; the handful of pieces we have offered in our 13+ years have all been from the late 1940s or the 1950s, and we had yet to offer a single superhero page until now. The evil Claw was one of the few Golden Age villains to have solo stories, and in this one, his attempts to destroy the US Navy fleet are dashed by Brad Hendricks, alias The Ghost. This dynamic page features two unforgettable images of The Claw and his super-sharp fangs. Artist Bob Wood gave this page to fellow comic artist Jerry Robinson and wrote an inscription to him in the third panel, reminding him to "lay off the daily double" at the Jamaica Race Track in Queens, New York (it closed in 1959). We're not sure who added the watercolors, but they certainly did a great job on this incredibly rare page. Ink over graphite with watercolor on Bristol board, with an image area of 12.5" x 18". There is considerable soiling and handling wear in the border areas, with some paper loss on three corners, but the image is still great; overall Good condition.
