Description

Bill Everett Young Men #26 Story Page 6 Original Art (Atlas/Marvel, 1954). The last story in the issue was a Namor the Sub-Mariner feature. Page 6 from that story featured Namor's surface-dwelling girlfriend Betty Dean, as a group of communists disguised as aliens prepared to kidnap some politicians. Previously known as Timely Comics when Bill Everett created the Sub-Mariner and Namor was the first super hero published by the fledgling company, in the 1950s they were known as Atlas and made an attempt to revive their heroes as Commie-Busters. This did not last long and it would fall to their third incarnation as Marvel Comics to bring back these heroes to the newsstands and spin-racks long-term. This page was created twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 18". The board is toned, with some handling wear and light stains in the lower tier. There is also a half-inch rip in the bottom margin just into the image area. Overall, in Very Good condition. From the Personal Collection of Marvel and DC Inker Dave Hunt.
