Alex Toth Eerie #2 Partial Story Original Art Group of 2 (Warren Publ., 1966). Toth's masterful sense of design and almost three-dimensional human figures distinguish this sampling from "Vision of Evil," a story about a haunted artist. The crowning touch is Toth's unique style of lettering, which also appears in a marginal note. Toth believed he was preparing this yarn for Eerie #1, which turned out to be a privately issued demo edition, using reprint stories from a companion title, Creepy. The first Eerie to hit the market was No. 2 -- hence the "Eerie 1" reference in the artist's side-note. Toth's cameo drawing of the book's host (upper left, first page) is based upon a character design by fellow artist Jack Davis. Included are panel pages 1 and 3. Ink, watercolors, and ink-wash over graphite on Bristol board, with drybrush effects. Image area, 9.5" x 13". Light toning. Excellent condition.
