    Description

Alex Blum Classics Illustrated #57 Complete 44-Page Story "The Song of Hiawatha" Original Art (Gilberton, 1949). From his earliest days with the Eisner and Iger shop in the 1930s, Blum's best work was reserved for assignments with strong fantasy content. Among the 25 Classics Illustrated titles he illustrated, "The Song of Hiawatha" is one of the stand-outs. Blum treats Hiawatha as a superbly-illustrated Native American superhero story, making this one of the truly memorable comics that Gilberton published. Some missing captions and title paste-ups, three pages have blue ink spills on the art and there are blue pencil markings throughout the 12.5" x 18.5"; otherwise they average Very Good condition.
