Vincent DiFate - "Space Bottle" Painting Original Art (1979). Vincent DiFate's SF artwork has been described as "combining a romantic visionary spirit with the clear-eyed, pragmatic attitude of a research scientist." His artwork is housed in the collections of The National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian Institute, and The New Britain Museum of American Art. Vincent DiFate is acknowledged as a sensitive colorist, a creator of dynamic compositions, and a superb visual storyteller; his illustrations of extra-terrestrial craft, rockets, and spaceships are always rendered in convincing detail. He simply states, "I just paint stuff that doesn't exist!" In Excellent condition, this painting has an image area of 11" x 14.5". From the collection of Richard and Wendy Pini. Richard says: "Vinny DiFate is, as far as I'm concerned, the king of the "hardware" space artists. Just as Chesley Bonestell's spaceships could very well have been realized from his paintings, so could the space vehicles that DiFate paints so clearly and crisply."

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
