Description

Simon Bisley - Batman Unpublished Neil Gaiman Book Painting Original Art (c. 1989). According to Neil Gaiman, back in the late 1980s he and Simon Bisley had signed a deal to do a Batman graphic novel for DC in the vein of Arkham Asylum titled The Night Circus which was going to be a painted book. Sadly the book never happened, and the only remnant of that idea is this extremely rare scene of Batman at a big top with clowns, balloons, and a child. Neil Gaiman mentioned the collaboration on his blog in 2005, when this piece went up for auction, during Beguiling's American Red Cross Tsunami relief event. Mixed media on illustration board that is affixed to another slightly larger board with an edge to edge image area of 17.75" x 17.75", and that board is glued to another board. Light edge wear. Signed, and in Excellent condition.
Property From the Collection of Darren Shan.
