Russell Patterson Christmas Season Greetings Original Art Group of 9 (c. 1960s-70s). Patterson had defined the glamorous image of the flapper during the 1920s and went on to become one of the most celebrated cartoonist/painters in the realms of fashion and voluptuous erotica. These unique, late-in-life watercolors and tinted-ink pieces capture the spontaneity and compositional brilliance of the artist -- all designed as private correspondence to friends from Patterson and his wife, Ruth Cleary Patterson. One piece reproduces Ruth's musical score for a song, "A Merry American Christmas," made famous in a 1941 recording by Kate Smith. Also included is a copy of Patterson's studio letterhead. Ink and watercolors on rag-bond and lightweight construction paper. Image areas, 8.5" x 11". Varied shades of age-toning. Scattered marginal tears and horizontal creases from mail-folding. Very Good condition.
