Davis' beautifully designed painting captures the roguish charm of this 1973 Peter Bogdanovich film starring Ryan and Tatum O'Neal. The artist graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1955, had earned a scholarship provided by Scholastic Magazine, and traveled to New York City to study at the Cartoonists and Illustrators School. In the city, he roomed with Archie Goodwin, and after a year at the Cartoonists and Illustrators School, six months in the Army, and two more years at the school, Davis landed a job with the famous Push Pin Studios. He has since gone on to become a top illustrator, noted for his paintings and posters for movies and TV shows. Davis received the first Drama Desk Award in 1987 for his theater posters.
