Description

Orson Lowell - Gruesome Pulp Style Painting Original Art (c. 1940s). "What's in the Box?" An image that would have made any EC horror comic proud, this gruesome goodie bears a hand-written note that is hidden by the matting. It reads "The jealous husband or disappointed suitor of this woman has killed his rival and sent his head to her. Sexual type could be fiancee of ad lib." This piece, as lovely as it is grotesque, is produced in gouache over graphite on art paper with an image area of 7" x 10". There is a fold through the bottom left corner and overall tanning to the paper, otherwise in Very Good condition. Matted to 13" x 16" and ready to frame.
