Colorado resident Edgar Church was a commercial artist, illustrating telephone book advertisements at one point in his career. In approximately 1937, he began collecting comic books to use their covers for reference material. He continued the practice until about 1954. Church kept them neatly stored in his basement. This collection was discovered and purchased by Chuck Rozanski (owner of Mile High Comics) and the books from the collection have since been referred to as from either "The Edgar Church Collection" or the "Mile High Collection". They were in such high grade that many of them are still among the highest graded copies of those titles. Subsequently, his own original art was rediscovered by fans and has sold very well since then.
