Description
David Wright - Landscape Painting Original Art (1945). Wright was famous for his glamorous pin-up illustrations, but he later confided that one of his greatest pleasures during this period was escaping commercial assignments to paint landscapes. He was also known for his daily comic strip Carol Day, and this idyllic scene recalls the strip's recurring interludes of Carol slipping away to a woodland glade in the country, often accompanied by one of her suitors. Created in watercolor over graphite on watercolor board with an image area of 15.5" x 11.25". Small holes along the left edge, dust shadow on edges, and handling wear.
