Description
David Wright Girl with Parasol, Smoking Painting Original Art (c. 1960). A sunbathing beauty dressed in soft pink, with a parasol to match, enjoys a cigarette in a picturesque park in this lovely painting. According to Sirens by Terry Parker (Page 182), this piece is believed to have been created as an advertisement for Player's Cigarettes. It is also believed to be the finished version of Girl with Parasol, another of Wright's paintings also available in this sale, which features a nearly identical composition -- minus the cigarette and with a slightly different color scheme.Rendered in gouache on illustration board with an image area of 14" x 16.5". The board presents with adhesive staining, production and artist's notes, additional stains, creasing, paper abrasions, pinholes, corner creasing, and handling wear. Additionally, the board appears to have previously been adhered to another surface and, as such, the back is covered in glue residue. Signed in the lower left. In Very Good condition.
