Description

David Wright Esmé Taking a Washtub Bath Painting Original Art (c. 1940s-50s). Wright adds to the history of rendering women in bath tubs after the popular nineteenth century tradition of masters such as Degas, Bonnard, and Renoir. Esmé -- his wife and muse -- here sits, curled into a posture captured with the utmost vulnerability and realism, devoid of the sexualization and glamour oft employed in Wright's "lovelies". Rendered in gouache on toned art paper with an image area of 10.5" x 14". Light handling and edge wear. In Excellent condition.
