Description

Carl Barks Spoiling the Concert Oil Painting Original Art (1973). While Barks' composition dazzles here, there are plenty of little details to bring smiles to viewers' faces -- note that Uncle Scrooge's instrument is a cash register and a ledger is his sheet music! Also, the nephews are releasing mechanical mice meant to disrupt Scrooge's rapture. The larger foreground figures combine with other background details to produce a striking three-dimensional effect. The composition, mood, lighting, and theme (both obvious and implied) all combine to present a near-perfect realization of the Scrooge McDuck legacy. The piece is featured on page 180 (color plate #55) of The Fine Art of Walt Disney's Donald Duck. The overall size of this oil on Masonite masterwork measures 20" x 16". The painting is in Excellent condition and it's nicely presented in a handsome frame with a brass plaque stating its title. From the Kerby Confer Collection.
