Carl Barks El Dorado The Gilded Man Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie Painting CB-OIL 72 Original Art (1974). Feather your nest with a true Barks treasure! El Dorado The Gilded Man is one of Carl Barks' most celebrated oil paintings, completed in 1974 as part of his effort to bring his classic Duck stories into the gallery world. This image recalls the 1952 comic story "Donald Duck and The Gilded Man" from Four Color #422 (Dell, 1952), where Donald and his nephews stumble into the legendary city of El Dorado and discover its gleaming guardian. The giant golden figure towers over the ducks, symbolizing both the danger and allure of treasure hunting. In Excellent condition.Catalogued as "#74-02" or "CB OIL 72," the work was included in The Fine Art of Walt Disney's Donald Duck by Carl Barks. Painted in oil on masonite with an image area that measures 20" x 16" and open-front framed to 30" x 26".
Barks signed the work in the lower left with the © Walt Disney Productions notation. With rich colors and atmospheric detail, this painting stands as a testament to Barks' ability to fuse comic energy with timeless artistry.
