Description

Carl Barks Blizzard Tonight Oil Painting Original Art (1973). "A cozy family scene chez Donald. The steamy kettle and glowing fireplace keep the icicles and plummeting mercury at bay. Barks' humor in details can be seen in the 'summer fun play boat' being used as a giant hot water bottle, the gold duck figurine and toys on the mantle and clock, and the steamy carafe with the ornamental dancing ducks." So it was rightly noted on page 140 (color plate #37) of The Fine Art of Walt Disney's Donald Duck, where this delightful painting was printed. Carl Barks based this whimsical scene on his 1955 cover for Donald Duck #44.

This warm-hearted oil on board painting has been indexed by Barks scholars as painting #43P (Barks identification number 4-73). The image area of this piece measures 16" x 20", and it has been framed to an overall size of 20" x 24". The art is in Excellent condition. Signed by Carl Barks at the lower left.
