Barry Smith Turlough O'Brien Painting Original Art (c. 1978). This painting is titled Turlough O'Brien. That is the anglicized name of Toirdelbach Ua Briain, who was the High King of Ireland from 1055-1086. Also, Turlogh Dubh O'Brien was a character created by Robert E. Howard, who starred in several stories by the author. One of them, "The Dark Man", featured Howard's Pictish chieftain, Bran Mak Morn. Whatever the connection to this painting, it is clear that the richness of color and the beauty of the line in this piece cannot be overstated. The Celtic line work on the boat is mesmerizing. The piece was created by the artist now known as Barry Windsor-Smith in the later 1970s in mixed media. It is matted with an image area of 10.75" x 14.75". In Excellent condition.
