Description

Alex Maleev - Silver Surfer Painting Original Art (2021). The Silver Surfer stands tall upon his longboard as the horizon brightens behind the Sentinel of the Spaceways. A placid scene by Maleev which was inspired by Moebius (Jean Giraud), whose ethereal art was featured in the 1988 two-issue miniseries The Silver Surfer (later collected under the subtitle Parable). This painting is nearly identical to Maleev's variant cover to Silver Surfer Rebirth #1 (Marvel, 2022), but the image has slight differences and is flipped horizontally. It is unknown if this was painted before or after the cover, since both pieces are dated 2021. Created in mixed media on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 18.5". Masking tape in the lower left margin. Signed by Maleev "After Moebius" in the bottom right image area. In Excellent condition.
