    Description

Otto Messmer Felix the Cat #7 Story Page 4 Original Art (Dell Publ., 1949). Early in his resurgence as a comic-book star, Felix the Cat finds his artistic pursuits interrupted by a hungry wolf. Felix, ever resourceful, bamboozles the predator with a quick sketch -- a tangent of Felix's early-day ability to create tangible objects out of thin air, and a precursor of the "Bag of Tricks" narrative device that would serve Felix in his teevee cartoons of the 1960s. Originator Messmer is in top slapstick form, here, with an urgent infusion of danger and suspense and a socko payoff. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12.5" x 18". Excellent condition, with light age-toning.
