    Description

Norman Price and Baline Sluder Illustrations Original Art Group of 4 (c. 1920s). Price, a prolific illustrator of historical and nostalgic subjects, dominates this mixed lot with a richly textured pen-and-ink scene of a couple fleeing down an alleyway, along with Price's hand-painted ink overlay (on vellum) for a color engraving. Price also is represented in a beautiful pencil drawing of a boy casting hand-shadows by lantern-light. Original venues are not documented, but the work is consistent with Price's known work during the 1920s for American Magazine, Liberty, and others. A fourth piece, ascribed to Baline Sluder (signed: Baline), is a Victorian Christmas-party scene in a Folk Art Primitive style, in opaque watercolors. Various media on materials ranging from bond paper to Bristol board. Image areas, 7" x 10" to 11" x 14". All show moderate toning, with two small tears on the pencil piece. Good to Very Good condition.
